Who was there first • Greeks referred to the original inhabitants as Iberians • According to research the first Iberians were thought to have arrived there between 5000-3000 B.C. • Some believe that they came from eastern Mediterranean. • And others believe they were related to the founders of the megalithic culture (UK, Ireland, France) • The most advanced Iberians was the theTartessos

  4. Celtics 1200 B.C. • Celtic tribes entered the Iberian peninsula from the north • When they got there they mixed the Iberians and started the celt-iberian race.

  5. Phoenicians 1100 B.C. • Phoenicians started to form colonies • The most important colonies were Gadir (now cardiz)Malaca (today's Malaga) and Abdera (today's Adra, in Almeria).

  6. Carthaginians 228 B.C. • Invaded Spain and conquered large parts of it • Carthaginians most important colonies were the island Ibiza and Cartegena.

  7. Punic wars • A war fought between Carthage and Rome from 264 B.C. – 146 B.C. • Largest wars at the time • The main cause of the Punic Wars was the conflict of interests between the existing Carthaginian Empire and the expanding Roman Republic

  8. First Punic Wars • 264-241 B.C. • Rome won. Carthaginians lost a lot for the price of peace

  9. Bronze age • Was a major advancement in evolution • Because they would use bronze every day, like we do with the internet
