  2. $ Introduction $ Have you ever gone to the local mall and wanted a better deal on your purchases? Have you ever thought you could be a better business owner? Are you creative enough to sell a product and earn some dinero for your group? We will find out. $ forward $ back $ home

  3. $ Task $ Your task is to pick one of the many businesses we have learned about. Your group is going to choose a product that fits your business and create a printed advertisement for the product. You will have 3 days to complete this project.   5. $ Resources $ These web sites will help you find products, useful grammar, and maps to determine your business location. Grammar links: These are not all inclusive. Please remember to use the handouts from class and the textbooks. Maps: You can also reference the world map in the room or the globe. Shopping pages: These are websites that offer products in both English and in Spanish. This should be helpful for design ideas. $ forward $ back $ home

  6. Stores and ads in Spanish: These can be used for real examples of a product and a description. Remember to look at the design as well as the words. Alcampo: offers food and other products in Spanish. Look at the ads they paste on the sides of the site and the words they use to sell themselves. El Corte Inglés: offers all types of products from food to sports equipment. Use the list on the left side of the page to view products. Fnac: offers mostly electronic and print materials. Use the scroll down menu at the top left to view products. HEB: offers examples of foods. The products are not listed individually, but there are catchy slogans on the pages that you can use. Sanborn’s: offers department store merchandise. This is a very popular chain in Mexico. Marti: Offers sporting equipment. Also a very popular chain in Mexico. Grammar Pages: These will help refresh your memory on some of the grammar and vocabulary. Adjectives: These sites offer a list of adjectives that you may find useful. A-F, G-O, P-V More common adjectives that will help you say mine, yours, ours, etc. Store vocabulary list: This site offers a list of common stores in Spanish. Verbs! Use these sites for help with verb conjugations. Verb Drills Example from 501 Spanish Verbs This book can also be checked out during class time from me. Maps: These pages will help you determine where your store will be located. Mexico Map: This is a very basic outline Spain Map: This is a political map of Spain.   8. Teacher notes, Standards, and Miscellaneous Foreign Language Standards: A.4 Students will give possible solutions to a problem related to a personal need. B.3 Students will understand selected written materials on topics of personal interest. E.1 Students will compare objects and symbols, such as flags or currency, from other cultures to those found in their own culture. F.1 Students will use topics and skills from other school subjects to discuss and/ or write in the language studied. F.3 Students will access resources in the language studied on topics being discussed from other classes G.1 Students will read, view, listen to, and talk about subjects contained in popular media from other countries in order to gain a perspective on other cultures. Notes: During this unit the students earn play money to purchase food and other small items at the end of the unit. They can earn money during this activity by collaborating and being on task. All students have been exposed to stem changing verbs, the present and imperfect tenses. For this activity they really need to use the adjectives and nouns from the vocabulary lists. They will need to be able to use the present tense. The students will need to have access to computers and should be familiar with Word or PowerPoint. Miscellaneous: Students already have the vocabulary based on thematic units designed by the district Spanish team. The Juntos text can be used as an added resource. They will also have ads from the Sunday Journal Sentinel for reference materials. $ back $ home
