  2. Safe Drinking Water Act • The Safe Drinking Water Act was formed to control the quality of the water we drink. • It is a national act, which means its not international. • It was amended in 1986 and 1996 and drafted in 1974.

Safe Drinking Water Act (cont.) • The function of the act is to ensure that the citizens of the United States are receiving safe drinking water. • SDWA applies to every public water system and does not apply to bottled water. • The water is purified to ensure the water people are exposed to is safe.

  4. SDWA (cont.) • The United States government is the one responsible for regulation and enforcement of this act.
