SickleCellFundraiser • This year we kicked off the fundraising in January with a line dance party. • Charles Doss and his crew came and showed us how to line dance Denver style. • There was fun had by all. We had vendors that donated goods and their time. There were over 80 people in attendance, ages ranging from 18 to 90.

  3. Sickle Cell Advocacy DayinWashington D.C. In April, Colorado Sickle Cell Association participated in the National Sickle Cell Advocacy Day held in the Capital City. We visited our Colorado delegates to encourage our government to sign the new National Sickle Cell Act. The Sickle Cell Disease Association would like to thank everyone who came to the 2014 National Sickle Cell Advocacy Day! From the training day to our visits on The Hill, it was a great success!

  4. ColoradoSickle Cell In Action Annual Sickle Cell 5K Race Support Group Meetings • Colorado Sickle Cell monthly support groups will be held once a month at our office: • 6825 E. Tennessee Avenue 4th Floor Conference Room Call 303-333-2606 for more information!!!

  5. Sickle Cell Education William Smith High School Aurora, Colorado Colorado Sickle Cell Association, Inc. • In March our Director Donna Dixon visited William Smith High School’s Biology classes, who were studying genetic diseases and learned how Sickle Cell disease can be acquired genetically.

  6. Community Partners The Prince Hall Centennial Lodge # 4 has partnered with us in supporting our sickle families. This is year number four that they have provided dinner for families during the Easter holiday.

  7. Sickle Cell Collaboration with the Sickle Treatment Center and Research Center • Colorado Sickle Cell Association has been working with the Treatment Center on the HRSA grant for the last 4 years. • This collaboration has assisted patients to find medical homes. That have enhanced patient care by aiding patients to establish designated medical care with a specified physician and medical team.
