Course Objectives • focuses on four critical areas: • developing an understanding of and applying proportional relationships • operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations • solving problems involving scale drawing, geometric constructions, and surface area, and volume • drawing inferences about populations.

  3. Grades • 50% Tests • 30% Quizzes • 10% Homework • 10% Classwork • There is no Extra Credit in this class!!! However…Students can earn 1/2 credit back on test correction .

  4. Middle School Policy: • No late work, but the 2 lowest homework scores each trimester will be dropped. • A paper or project, 1 class period late will receive no higher than 75%, after that 0. • Test corrections can be made for test below a C- (70%) to bring a test up to a C- level, test corrections need to be made within 1 week of being returned

  6. How do you correct homework? • I believe homework is like practice getting ready for the big game, the test.

  7. Grading Homework Assignments... • Homework assignments are given every day. • 3pts – • full heading • problem written • all work shown • 2.5pt- missing either... • proper heading • Problem written • work shown • 2.25pt- late work (Late work will only be accepted until the next class period.) • 0 pts- No work is shown, just answers are given

  8. How are tests and quizzes graded?

How are tests and quizzes graded? • All questions are worth 4 points • If you show some work and get the problem wrong, you will get half credit (2 points) • If you get the problem wrong and do not show any work, you will not get any credit (0 points) • If you forget your units, you will loose 1 point
