MISD Virtual School Mission • The mission of the MISD Virtual School is: • to provide opportunities for students to take classes in a format that will be part of their educational future • to provide options for students to take classes that may conflict with other classes in their schedule • to provide students access to classes that are not available on their home campus

Historical • MISD researched course providers • MISD studied other programs in the area • Developed a course offerings list • Developed a MISD Virtual School Handbook • Developed enrollment criteria • MISD developed an implementation plan • Parent/Student meetings • Virtual School is part of the student’s schedule • Teacher mentors

What Now? • Improvements • Teacher mentor support and training • Communication with parents through weekly letters • Integrate online orientation course prior to online enrollment into the enrollment process for students • Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) • Partnered with Advanced Academics for MISD to be a Provider district for online courses • 6 courses approved by TxVSN • 5 courses in the TxVSN catalog for Spring and Summer 2010 • 8 more courses pending final approval by TxVSN
