    1. Math TAKS strategies Slam Dunk the TAKS test

    2. Breath You have learned everything that will be covered on this test.

    3. Pace yourself If you get stuck in the middle of the test then take a break and start working from the back forward. Some of the easy questions are the last ones on the test. You can work the questions in groups of 4 or 5 if you want.

    4. Questions Work all the questions and place stars next to the ones you know you have right. DO NOT turn in your test until you have 35 questions stared.

    5. Objective 1 review Comparing and ordering Integers. Strategy : Make a number line from -10 to 10. Use it to help you organize your numbers from least to greatest or greatest to least. Check to make sure you put them in the correct order that the questions asked.

    6. Objective 1 review COMPARING FRACTIONS Strategy: pick one or a combination of the following 1. Convert to decimals. 2. Draw the picture. 3. Find common denominators. 4. Use cross multiplication

    7. Objective 1 review Convert between fractions, decimals, percents. Remember to list the common ones along with your multiplication chart. Fourths, fifths, eights, tenths, thirds

    8. Objective 1 review Multiplication of Decimals: Remember to multiply normal and then count the places in the problem and move the decimal in the product.

    9. Objective 1 review Dividing Decimals: Don’t forget to shoot the decimal up.

    10. Objective 1 review Multiplying Fractions: Multiply across Reduce your answer. Dividing Fractions: Multiply by the reciprocal “Just flip the second and multiply”

    11. Objective 1 review Adding and Subtracting Decimals: Line up the decimal Add zeros to make the columns even Bring the decimal straight down.

    12. Objective 1 Review Order of Operations: PEMDAS Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply and Divide in the order it appears from left to right. Add or Subtract in order from left to right

    13. Objective 1 review Proportions: Set up the Box if comparing two things in the word problem. Use cross product to solve Unit Rate: Divide to see what one is.

    14. Objective 1 Reveiw There will be 10 questions using the topics in this objective Be careful about least to greatest or greatest to least. Make sure you answer the question being asked.

    15. Objective 2 Review Percent Questions: Remember Percent Bars or turn the percent into a decimal and multiply

    16. Objective 2 Review Proportional problems can be in this objective also. Again use the box

    17. Objective 2 review Similar shapes: Remember the angles are congruent The sides are proportional Set up ratio and solve to find missing sides or use scale factor if you can see it.

    18. Objective 2 review Conversions of formulas: Area, perimeter, volume Look at your formula chart. Plug in the numbers if you get stuck to see if your answer makes sense

    19. Objective 2 review Sequence Problems: Look like: 2n-1 Remember you plug in 1,2,3 2(1) – 1= 2(2) – 1= 2(3) - 1= Eliminate choices that don’t work

    20. Objective 2 Review Graphs: Make an X,Y chart and then look at your conversion chart to see which one multiplies by what the graph is showing you.

    21. Objective 2 review Solve Equations: 2X – 1 = 9 Remember to always do the opposite operation to both sides 2x-1 = 9 +1 +1 2x = 10 Then divide both sides by 2 and X=5

    22. Objective 2 review Match equation to word problem. Make sure you eliminate the answer choices that don’t fit the equation. You can solve the word problem and see which choice gives you the same answer.

    23. Objective 2 review 10 question on objective 2. Remember to eliminate wrong answer choices PLUG it in Plug it in…..

    24. Objective 3 review Complementary angles Two angles that add to 90 degrees Supplementary angles Two angles that add to 180 degrees

    25. Objective 3 review Classify triangles: Equilateral, Isosceles, Scalene Classify Quadrilaterals: Parallelograms, Rhombus, Rectangle, Square and trapezoid.

    26. Objective 3 review Triangles: all angles add to 180 degrees Quadrilaterals: all angles add to 360 degrees

    27. Objective 3 Review Classify 3D solid shapes Prisms, Pyramids, cone and cylinders Know how to identify these by their nets

    28. Objective 3 review Top, Front, side views of solid figures Remember to eliminate the choices as you check the sides. Usually starting from the front side is the easiest.

    29. Objective 3 review Graph and plot points Remember they are ( X,Y) Plot all the points to eliminate the wrong choices.

    30. Objective 3 review Translations: count the places Reflections: Count the places to the x or y axis and then count the same number of places on the other side.

    31. Objective 3 review There are 7 questions on objective 3. Take your time and eliminate wrong chances

    32. Objective 4 Review Area, perimeter, circumference, volume USE THE FORMULA CHART WRITE THE FORMULA FOR THE PROBLEM AND PLUG IN THE NUMBERS TO SOLVE.

    33. Objective 5 review Construct sample spaces or tree diagrams

    34. Objective 5 review Probability: Remember find the probability of each individual event and then multiply the two fractions Reduce your answer if needed

    35. Objective 5 Review Graphing: Line plot, stem and leaf, bar graph, circle graph, venn diagrams

    36. Objective 5 review Range : highest – lowest Mean: Average,, add all the numbers and divide by how many Median: put numbers in order it is the middle number Mode: appears the most

    37. Objective 6 Review Last one promise Problem solving: Draw a picture Make a list guess and check Work a simpler problem Work backward

    38. Objective 6 review Any topic earlier mentioned can be repeated in this objective as a word problem. Make sure you read the problem carefully and answer the question being asked. Be careful for the NOT questions

    39. Last slide Remember to take your time Take frequent breaks if needed Check over your answers Do a great job… I am proud of you…. Show everyone all the hard work you have done…
