Notes on APR and GSR • Calculated only for student-athletes who receive athletics aid or were recruited to UNC to play sports. • For Fall 2012, that included 443 of approximately 800 student-athletes • GSR numbers for cohorts entering college in 2003 through 2006 • APR numbers for 2012-13 have been submitted to NCAA, but will not be publicly released until next summer (to allow for adjustments, appeals, etc.)

  3. Notes on GSR and FGR • 10 teams of 24 (Men’s and Women’s Track includes M & W Cross Country and M & W Indoor Track) had a 100% GSR • M Fencing • W Fencing • M Tennis • W Tennis • Rowing • Field Hockey • W Golf • Gymnastics • W Swimming

  4. Notes on GSR and FGR • FGR for UNC student-athletes is 72%; FGR for all UNC students is 88% • 8 teams of 24 achieved a FGR that equals or exceeds the UNC student body rate • o M Swimming • o W Swimming • o M Tennis • o W Tennis • o Field Hockey • o W Golf (100%) • o Gymnastics • o Lacrosse

  5. Notes on APR • Five teams of 28 had APRs in the top 10% of their sport nationally • o M Swimming • o W Fencing • o W Golf • o Gymnastics • o Volleyball • Three more teams in the top 20% of their sport nationally • o Wrestling • o Field Hockey • o Women’s Soccer

NCAA Top 10 for 2014 • • Ten students nationwide who completed their athletic eligibility in 2012-13 • • Based on athletics, academics, and community service • • Will be honored at January 2014 NCAA Annual Convention • • Amber Brooks, Women’s Soccer, Communications Studies, 3.83 • 4-year starter • Two-time captain • 2009 and 2012 NCAA National Championship teams • 2012 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the year • Her jersey (# 22) will be retired

  8. 2012-13 Significant Year : Reports, Restructuring, Processes, People • Athletics Department Strategic Plan (Fall 2012) • Priorities • Alignment – Align operations to fulfill the mission of the University • Academic achievement – Top 3 academic finish in the conference and a top 10 finish nationally in each sport • Athletic performance – Top 3 in conference and top 10 nationally • Administrative engagement – Engage internal and external constituents to pursue resources and administrative structures necessary for success • Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes Reporting to Provost (Summer 2013)
