  3. GreenHawthorn Species: Crataegusviridis Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Prefer moist soils of valleys or low upland slopes. Facts: Member of the Rose family, used in culinary and the medical field.

  4. Dogwood Species: CornusfloridaFacts: Some species produce poisonous fruit. Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Generally found in hardwood forests, often used in landscaping.

  5. White Spruce Species: PiceaglaucaFacts: Can reach 215 feet tall. Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Coniferous Forest.

  6. Norway Maple Species: Acer patanoides Location: BCC Campus Habitat: Anywhere, originally native to Europe.

  7. Sycamore 1

  8. Sycamore 2 Species: Platanusoccidentalis Location: BCC Campus.. Habitat: Hyrdroserepreferably, mixed throughout parks. Facts: Red flowers when in bloom.

  9. Hemlock Species: TsugacanadensisFacts: Oldest recorded, 554 years. Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Preferably moist acidic soil.

  10. Yew Species: Taxusbaccata Location: BCC Campus. Facts: Leaves are used to stop cancer cell growth permanently. All species are poisonous if ingested.

  11. Cedar Species: CedrusdeodaraFacts: Part of the Pine family. Location: BCC Campus Habitat: Moist swamp like areas.

  12. Red Pine Species: Pinusresinosa Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Mixed forest, sandy mesosere. Facts: Telephone poles are Red Pine.

  13. Red Maple Species: Acer rubrum Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Mixed forests, Hydrosere. Facts: Native Americans used the bark to treat illness.

  14. White Pine Species: Pinusstrobus Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Preferably sand or sandy mesosere. Facts: Dr. Lamoureux likes to cuddle in them.

  15. Ash Species: Fraxinusamericana Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Well drained mixed forests, enjoys the company of hardwoods. Facts: Primary wood for hockey sticks.

  16. Staghorn Sumac Species: Rhustyphina Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Sunlight, edges of forest, not deep where the light is minute. Facts: Berries used to make lemonade like substance.

  17. Quaking Aspen Species: Populustremuloides Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Slopes, moist with gravel substrate. Facts: Very disease prone.

  19. Honey Locust 2 Species: Gleditsiatricanthos Location: BCC Campus. Habitat: Mixed forest, preferably hydrosere. Facts: The pods it grows are fermented to make beer.
