  1. The Ups and Downs of NYC NYC if full of fun sights to see, and fun things to do! But not everything is perfect! By Trisha Kant

  2. If you come to New York City, you might think, “Oh look! I’m in NYC, the city where dreams come true! NYC is so great! Blah, blah, blah….” Yes, NYC is a great place to visit, but it’s not the perfect city you’d expect. NYC has high prices, dirty places, rats… I could go on forever. NYC has it’s ups… and it’s downs.

  3. NYC’s bad side Despite all the good ‘rumors’ you’ve heard about New York City, not everything here is perfect. We’ve got garbage on the streets, super dirty subway stations, with rats, and overflowing garbage cans. NYC’s 2nd Avenue subway construction has people up all night listening to dynamite explosions, and noisy drills. New York City is filled with wonderful places to see. There’s Central Park, 5th Ave, Madison Ave, Park Ave, Wall St., everything! But not everything in NYC is perfect. For example, there are dirty subway stations, garbage on the streets, homeless people, poverty…

  4. The subway construction is really noisy, and takes up a lot of space!!!

  5. In poorer neighborhoods, such as Harlem, it’s way more different than the Upper East or West Side.

  6. So, as you just saw, NYC can be pretty, well… sloppy. But that doesn’t mean people who live here don’t love it. People love NYC for what it is!

  7. New York City has it’s downs, but you haven’t seen the best part yet! NYC has really- wait no, super great places to visit, and see!

  8. This photo was taken in Central Park, on the Reservoir, of the Downtown skyline. In the middle is a fountain, which is a beautiful sight!

  9. Sometimes, people just need to look up. This is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, (locally known as the Met). It’s a really great museum to visit on the Upper East Side. The architecture is phenomenal!

  10. In all, NYC is a really great place. It’s really fun to live in, and to me, the greatest place in the whole wide world. NYC looks forward to all the people living, and visiting, and loves to show of all tourist attractions!I’ve lived in New York City for almost all my life. I’m 10, and I’ve lived in NYC for 7 years. And in those 7 years I learned a lot about NYC. I learned that NYC has one of the most famous places in the world: Central Park. And one of the dirtiest Subway systems! I also learned that New York City will always be my home no matter what. NYC will always be connected to me, and always in my heart. NYC is big, and always a great place! New York City has it’s ups and downs, goods and bads. But however it is, New York City will always be New York City. And that’s what people love and appreciate New York City for. People love Central Park for it’s beauty. People love Times Square for it’s excitement. People love New York City for New York City.

  11. New York City has many sights that don’t get old. For example, in Central Park, the Reservoir, there’s a beautiful fountain in the middle of it, that’s a sight you’ll never forget. The amazingly tall skyscrapers are well...tall and amazing! And the 2nd Avenue Subway construction is really noisy! Also, there are tons of museums to visit, such as the Met, the Museum of Natural History, Moma, and many others. The World Trade Center is the tallest building in NYC, or is going to be because it’s being worked on. On the West Side there are the Dakota Towers, which is a phenomenal sight! However, not everything is that great. There are some poor neighborhoods in NYC such as Harlem. Also, where there is a poor neighborhood, there are poor families and businesses. Also, it’s more dangerous in those neighborhoods than in the Upper East Side or Upper West Side. And then there are the Subway stations. The subway is always being used, and some people litter. And out of millions of people, ‘some’ means a lot of people. So, NYC’s Subway stations aren’t always clean...or the the cleanest. However, in some parts of NYC there are open railroad tracks which trains run on and it’s super cool!

  12. But, just like the subway stations NYC’s sidewalks aren’t so clean either. People put garbage right in the middle of the street because it’s for the garbage trucks. Also, sometimes people need a place to dump old junk, however the sidewalk should not be that place. All the places I’ve showed in the pictures have been in Manhattan only. However, there are 5 boroughs to make New York City New York City. These are the boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens and the Bronx. In conclusion, all the boroughs are unique in their own way. So if you ever happen to visit New York City, don’t forget to visit all the boroughs! And remember, New York City has it’s ups and downs. New York City is a phenomenal place!!! 
