Cal State Online MISSION Expanding Opportunities and New Pathways • Increase student access to CSU Programs • Facilitate success by leveraging technology • Centralize marketing and outreach efforts to make sure that students know about CSU online options • Provide additional revenue for the campuses that can be used to support campus programs and priorities Dec 2012 Increasing CSU Access

What is the Cal State Online VISION • A central unit that powersoutreach, marketing and technology support for online degree programs from the 23 campuses • Cal State Online will herald the University’s name, reputation and quality programming in places well beyond the reach of the traditional campuses • Cal State Online will redefine and greatly expand the University’s outreach and connection to its community • Cal State Online centrally addresses the need for quality education online forstudents unable or unwilling to be in residence • Cal State Online will centralize and expand the University’s position as a leading provider of superior online programs • Future proof the CSU Dec 2012 Increasing CSU Access

Initial Focus Areas Initial Focus Areas include: • Undergraduate degree completion program options focused on returning students and welcoming back students with strong CSU campus connections • Baccalaureate degree programs in high needs areas such as business, nursing, communications and psychology • Masters programing for mid career professionals • Certificate programs in core professional service and training areas Dec 2012 Increasing CSU Access

  7. ACADEMIC CONTROL OF PROGRAMS • Campus and faculty retain academic control of program • Academic program participation is voluntary • Faculty are represented on the Cal State Online Board • Through the Campus Communications Liaisons there is an ongoing communication and reporting plan Dec 2012

Submitting a Potential Program • Complete the review process on campus for fully online programs • Chancellor’s Office (Chris Mallon’s Office) letter of support for your WASC application • “WASC”(Western Association of Schools & Colleges) approvals to offer a program fully online • Work with the Extended Education College on your campus who will work with Cal State Online to implement and deliver the program Dec 2012
