  2. His Family Background • Prophet Zakariyah’s wife’s sister had a daughter named Hannah • Esa’s grandparents were Hannah and Imraan (leader of the Israelites) • They were already Muslims • Finally had a child, Mariam • Imraan died before he could see Mariam • Worried that they would kill Mariam

  3. His Mother • His mother was Mariam • Had a strong belief in Allah • Went through many hardships in life • Zakariyah understood she was special (fruit story)

  4. Hadith About Mariam’s Status • Ali ibn Abi Talid narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said, “The best of the world’s women is Mary (in her lifetime), and the best of the world’s women is Khadijah (in her lifetime). (Sahih Bukhari)

  5. The hardships during and after birth During and after Birth (the hardships) • She was having a child without a father • She would be considered an embarrassment • Fear struck her that the town would make fun of her and not believe her • The town would consider her as crazy because she was never married. • however, she then turned to Allah (swt) to face her problems • Her devotion to Allah (swt) was great. • She was having a child without a father • She would be considered an embarrassment • Fear struck her that the town would make fun of her and not believe her • The town would consider her as crazy because she was never married. • However, she then turned to Allah (swt) to face her problems • Her devotion to Allah (swt) was great.

  6. A hadith An AYAH "I am a servant of God. He will reveal the Book to me and make me a prophet. He blessed me wherever I am. In the rules revealed to me there will be a special attention given to prayers and charity. God predestined that I will be kind to my mother and not a tyrant with a bad ending. Peace was on me the day I was born, peace will be on me on the day I will die, and on the day I am raised alive again!“ (verse 30-33 surah maryam)

  7. His miraculous childhood A HADITH Maryam said; “how can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?”he said, “ oh your lord said, “ that is easy for me (Allah), and we wish to appoint him as a son to mankind and a mercy form us (Allah) and it is a matter already decreed, (by Allah).” (surah 19)

  8. HIS YOUTH • Religious: He grew up in a Jewish land. His people and surroundings were constantly practicing Judaism. • Socially: Esa (asa) was a very social person. Since he was a infant he was able to speak to the people. • Economically: Esa lived in a land called Bethlehem, but lived in Nazareth. The land was very prosperous since the climate allowed the growth of large harvests and the raisings of sheep's.

  9. Comparisons with the Prophet’s (SAW) Message • Both were given books • Both dealt with different religions • Both stayed strong when made fun of from different religions • Didn’t stop practicing, even when they knew they would go to Jennah

  10. Quranic refutations of Esa • There is a misconception that the Christians believe that Esa died on a cross. And that he is god, the son of god, and the holy spirit. • However, Esa did not die, he was bought up to Allah (swt) and another person was sent down. • Jews do not believe in the story of Jesus and reject the beliefs

  11. Esa…his return ESA (His return) • When Jesus was raised up to Allah (swt) it was promised that he will descend down again on Allah (swt) will. • In the Quran it states that Esa (asa) was never crucified nor was he killed. But he was bought up to Allah (swt) presence. • He will be bought back up when the earth is in its position known as “the end of time” • When Allah said, "Jesus, I will take you back and raise you up to Me and purify you of those who are disbelievers. And I will place the people who follow you above those who are disbelievers until the Day of Resurrection. Then you will all return to Me, and I will judge between you regarding the things about which you differed. (Surah Al 'Imran: 55) • This hadith proves the descendant and raising of Esa (asa) • He is a Sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path. (Surat az-Zukhruf: 61) • Prophet Esa (asa) is a sign of the day of judgment.
