  2. What is Hollyfit week about? • Understanding the importance of health and fitness • Seeing how health and fitness relates other subjects • Getting pupils to attend extra-curricular clubs

  3. Come to a club this week! All clubs will be at lunch time. • Tuesday (year 7) • Wednesday (year 8) • Thursday (year 9&10) Activities: Netball (MUGA), Tag rugby (MUGA), Basketball (CAGE), indoor rounders (GYM) & football tournament (PLAYGROUND)

  4. Joining a club in Kingston • How many of you are a member of a club outside of school? (show of hands) • If you would like any information on joining a club please see a PE teacher

  5. Sports Day • On Monday 24th June • Discuss with the person next to you what events you would like to try. Events include: Track – 1500m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m & relay Field – Long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, shot putt, javelin, tug of war, egg & spoon.

  6. Celebrating achievement • The PE would like to celebrate all achievements in sport outside of school. • If you take part in a sport outside of school and have done particularly well please come and see Mr Hughes in the PE department or email p.hughes@hollyfield.kingston.sch.uk 1 2 • Harry Blackmore (year 12) National rugby champion • Marcus Giles (year 9) National table-tennis champion

  7. Task • Discussion (in pairs): come up with a definition of (1)health and (2)fitness. • Health is defined as a state of complete mental, physical and social well-being; not merely the absence of illness or infirmity. • Fitness is the ability to meet the demands of the environment.
