  1. P12056: My Smokes Personal Smoke Monitoring Device Introduction: My Smokes is a device that will be used to understand the full puff profile of a smoker. A puff profile consists of duration, volume, and frequency of puff during normal smoking. With the information from this device researchers will be able to see the effects of different cigarette types on puff profile. Project Goals: • Create a ergonomic hand piece to more easily allow participants in research studies to smoke as they normally do • Design a new concept for the chest band, which measures the volume portion of the puff profile. Survey Timeline: • Use surveys to understand the ergonomics of design concepts: Comfort and Ease of Use • Narrow down design concepts to 1 final design for both the Hand Piece and Chest Band • Full unit survey showed an statistically significant increase in usability and comfort of the unit at an significance level of 0.15 Calibrate Orifice Plate Design: • Calculate calibration curve through testing New Design Features: • Finger groove for added comfort • Designed around dimensions for wireless integration with FSI Systems Inc. • Attachment for electronic cigarettes • Parts attach to belt pack for easy storage when not in use • Integrate the chest band into shirt to be worn all day Original Design: New Design: TeamMembers: • Team Leader: Evan Wozniak, ME • Team Facilitator: Sarah Kostuk, ISE • Mechanical Lead: Christina Smith, ME • Electrical Lead: Aaron Prahst, EE A special thank you to our faculty guide, Dr. Robison and our FSI contact, John Malvaso
