  2. Mission 宗旨 Our purpose is to promote the interaction between Taiwanese Students, Taiwanese-American Students, and anyone in UMass Amherst and its surrounding communities that are interested in the Taiwanese culture. TSA also serves to ease the transition of new students, especially Taiwanese students, by helping them adapt to the campus community and the American culture. Our third purpose is to contribute to the cultural diversity of UMass Amherst. • Past Events 活動回顧 • Welcome Festivity for new members • Farewell Gathering for graduating students • Autumn Trip for the maple leaves • Moon Festival Night • Chinese New Year Celebration • BBQ • Spring Picnic • Hot Pot Night • Cultural Video Event • Chinese Knot Workshop • Asian Festival • Cloud Dance Theatre Tour History 歷史 The forerunner of TSA is ROCSA (Republic of China Student Association), which was found in 1997. For the past 7 years, TSA/ROCSA has served as a cultural group for the general public while providing a home-feeling community for international students from Taiwan. Due to the fact that Republic of China, the formal name of Taiwan, is not well known, our 5th president, Ming C Kuo, and vice president, Sam Chen, had decided to change the name to TSA, since Taiwan is better known than R.O.C. By the unanimous vote of over two-third of our members, ROCSA became TSA in spring 2002. • Future Prospect 展望未來 • For the up coming semester: • Hold more activities that are open to public • Recruit new members • In the future: • Hold events based on the lunar calendar, which allows events to have historical backgrounds • Let people not only have fun, but also learn more about Taiwan Contact Information 聯絡方式 Website: http://www.umass.edu/rso/tsa E-mail: tsa_umass@hotmail.com Mail Box: U of Mass., Box 127 Student Activity Office Amherst, MA 01003
