Framework II The existing archival and librarian education in Switzerland: • secondary level: I+D-Assistant (since 1994, Vocational Schools in Zurich, Berne and Lausanne) • tertiary level: I+D-Specialist (since 1994, Univ. of applied sciences in Geneva and Chur, up from 2008: Masterprogram) • tertiary level: Certificate in Archival and Information Science (2002-2006, University of Lausanne)

  14. State and Perspectives I 1st edition, 2006-2008: • 7 CAS, 23 MAS-students • spring 2008: end of the teaching period of the 1st edition • master thesis going on • fall 2008: Diploma • Evaluation: sustainable high level of satisfaction • coming out: >50% of the students got a better job

State and Perspectives II Recruitement for the second edition, 2008-2010: • 47 highly qualified candidates • 33 admissions (8 interviews) • language: 2/3 german, 1/3 french/italian • sex: fifty-fifty • average age: >30 years • MAS: 32; CAS: 1 • Professions: archivists, librarians, records managers, documentarists • „sur dossier“: none

State and Perspectives III Some smaller revisions of the program: • concentration, reduction of content • reduction of guest teachers • improvement of coherence, elimination of repetitions • distinction between basic/theoretical content and case studies • 1/3 of the teaching time to be used for interactive sequences • clear instructions for guest teachers • If possible: 1 mastertext per module
