  1. Be smart! Staying Healthy Victoria Camera Health Classes Grades 6-12

  2. Your health is very important! • If you don’t take care of yourself properly, some problems, such as the following are likely to occur if your lifetime!

  3. 1.What activities can you do to stay active?

  4. Walk or ride your bike to places instead of driving or asking for a ride, if possible. • Get in a daily workout for at least 30 min • Join a gym • Run with a friend or neighbor • Don’t be lazy…use the stairs not the elevator!! • Organize and manage your time and figure out when you can exercise.

  5. Enjoy going outdoors

  6. Aerobic Exercise • Exercising can be fun if you make it fun. Look here to believe it and watch a group of teenagers make it fun! • Aerobic- physical activity using air or when breathing increases

  7. 2. What is the proper way to eat?

  8. Limit your portions • Look on the labels before eating the food • Try to stay away from fast food and soda (anything with extreme levels of sodium) • Make sure after you burn calories you are getting them back in some way • Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet

  9. Focus on eating this food group the least!!

  10. Common negative thoughts.. • But I don’t want to • I can’t do it • There isn’t enough time • I’m not good enough • I don’t know how to exercise properly

  11. 3. So, who can you ask for help or what can you do?

  12. If you have internet access, Google always has answers • A health and phys Ed teacher in your school • Someone you may know who is a personal trainer • A dietician • Newspaper, books, or magazine articles with known credentials

  13. An apple a day keeps the doctor away! So make sure to be concenedif something doesn’t feel right in your body.

  14. 4. How can you stay away from infection and illnesses?

  15. Don’t share drinks • Take vitamins daily • Get a flu-shot • Use ant-bacterial liquids on your hands • Be respectful of coughing and sneezing

  16. Rest, rest, and more rest • It’s so important to get enough rest daily. Rest and sleep are just as important as eating healthy and exercising. Your body needs time to recuperate and heal itself. When you’re sleeping, this occurs.
