  3. Ladies’ Night Out Mission The mission of Ladies’ Night Out was to increase the knowledge of freshmen women about Health Services that are available for them on campus regarding their reproductive health.

  4. Target Population Our target population was female college students attending SIUE living in Bluff Hall.

  5. Why We Chose our Target Population We targeted this population because: • 76% of college women are sexually active. • Female college freshmen are in a transitioning period. • New environment impacts their access to health resources.

  6. Needs Assessment Total Surveyed: 50 Freshmen Women • 96% of freshmen women have not used Health Service. • 74% of freshmen women did not know that Health Service could perform a pelvic exam. • 74% of freshmen women did not know that Health Service offered Contraceptives. • 50% of freshmen women did not know that Health Service could check suspicious breast lumps.

  7. Ladies’ Night Out: Implementation We decided to have a night full of activities that provided information about Health Service and what they offer. We chose to have a laid back but educational atmosphere for the Freshmen women in Bluff hall. Total participants: 30 female

  8. Goals and Objectives Based on our needs assessment, we came up with 5 Goals and 10 objectives. Our program had 4 main objectives that were crucial for accomplishing our goals.

  9. Objective 2.1 At the end of the Lady Cougar Care program, 70% of participants will be able to identify the steps of creating online appointments at Health Service’s website

  10. Did we meet this objective? Objective was met! • Confident to very confident: 17 • Not confident to very confident: 1 • Not confident to confident: 2

  12. Did we meet this objective? Objective was met! Every participant that indicated they did not perform monthly Self-Breast exams on the pre-test then indicated that the intended to do so on the Post Test. “A lump can be that small?”

  13. Objective 4.3 At the end of the Lady Cougar Care program, 50% of participants will reduce their feelings of anxiety in regards to a pelvic exam.

  14. Did we meet this objective? Objective was not met! The objective was missed by 14%, although there were 11 participants that did report decreasing there anxiety many were not affected and other participants reported an increase of anxiety.

Objective 5.1 At the end of the Lady Cougar Care program, 80% of the participants will be able to correctly identify two types of contraceptives provided by Health Service.

  16. Did we meet this objective? Objective was met! 93% of participants were able to correctly identify two contraceptive methods offered At Health Service after the program.

  19. Overall Suggestions • Know your population • Know what events are going on during your time of implementation. Is there a opportunity to partnership? • Be aware that your implementation might correlate with a certain time of year.
