DEWS Survey design • Panel survey over 3 years—”a streamlined SIPP” • Six weeks of interviewing in-person and phone (CAPI, CATI programmed in Blaise) for one interview per year • Collect detailed information on previous month • Use Event History (as in PSID) to recall each of 12 previous months on selected items • Administrative records used to edit and impute • DEWS begins in FY2009

DEWS Reimbursable Supplements • SSA policy analysis models use SIPP for retirement income of the baby boom (MINT), for SSI eligibility and participation (FEM), for Medicare Part D extra help (FEM), and for ad hoc analyses. • Assessed needs for these models not met by Census DEWS interview. • Reviewed topical module information used in models.
