  4. What is PMITS? The Patient Movement Items Tracking System (PMITS) is a DHSS mission sensitive system that tracks the biomedical equipment needed to support critical patient life sustainment and monitoring during aeromedical evacuations. PMITS is used by the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps during peacetime, contingency and wartime operations. Ensuring accurate, on-time, and to-site transport of PMI equipment when patients need it most!

  5. Additional PMITS Training • MHS Learn launch of PMITS Course I on 11/9/11. Course 2 & 3 upcoming. • Provides a complete overview of the PMI Program and Importance of PMITS • Features interactive learning, scenario-based instruction, integrated audio and video demonstrations https://mhslearn.csd.disa.mil

  6. What versions of PMITS are supported? PMITS Versions 1.0.3 2.0.4 Key Functionality Security Data Exchange Operating System 6

  16. History of PMI • PMI focuses on the 21 most critical items. • Sustain the evacuation of a patient. • Support forward capabilities. • The key elements to ensure a successful PMI program include: • Keeping up to date accurate inventory. • Tracking all equipment at all times. • Recycling assets. • Performing equipment maintenance. 16

  17. Defining PMI The specific Global Patient Movement Joint Advisory Board (GPMJAB) approved medical equipment and durable supplies required to support patient during evacuation are referred as Patient Movement Items. 17

  18. PMI Requirements • Rely on Aero-medical Evacuation (AE) capabilities • Crews and aircraft availability • Tactical and strategic solutions • Timely turnaround crucial to patient care 18

  19. PMI Centers and Locations • Service and Combatant Command Responsibility • Manage and receive funds to support DoD Operational Plan patient movement requirements • Responsible for life cycle management • Recycle or replace particular PMI Equipment 19

  20. PMITS Importance • Trained personnel ensure PMI is scanned every time it moves • Theater leadership reinforces importance of: • PMITS scan • Item Data Update • Interface tracking data • Monitored by AMC SGXL by unit and analyzed twice weekly to ensure mission success • Enforce scanning discipline to ensure equipment promptly scanned in and out • Provide accurate and timely data for recycling 20

  21. Why PMITS? • PMITS keeps track of officially designated medical equipment, and as the assets are moved from to place, they are scanned and recorded • Through a process of communication, the recorded scans are eventually shared with other PMIS workstations and also the PMITS website • This process enables you to look up assets and find out where they are, where they were, or where they are destined to be 21

  22. PMITS Scanning Basics 1.Inspect arriving and departing equipment to determine if it is PMI bar coded 2. Scan Patient Movement Items 3. Connect the scanner, import the scans, upload to the PMI exchange hub 4. Enterprise wide visibility 22
