  1. Sango Elementary Monday, October 31, 2011 Reading Our story this week is “Ghost Towns of the American West.” The reading skill is generalizing. The vocabulary words are: independence, scrawled, economic, overrun, vacant. Language Arts We will continue with our study of verbs (linking, irregular and contractions with not). Math Students start long division with one digit divisors this week. Please continue to practice division facts with students. Math Superstars lesson IV is Monday and lesson V is due on Friday. Science Students will finish up matter. They will have their test on states of matter, changes in matter, physical and chemical properties, and convection, conduction and radiation on Wednesday. We will work on a STEM challenge Thursday and Friday related to air, mass, and force. Social Studies We are beginning our study of Westward Expansion. This week we will discuss how culture changes over time as a consequence of technology (expansion of the railroad). We will also discuss the hardship the Great Plains settlers faced. Spelling Students will identify and spell words from their story ”Ghost Towns of the American West.”Test Friday!
