  2. ITAA and RFID • RFID: One of the fastest growing segment in supply-chain efficiency • Spans multiple industries • RFID adoption ramping up with mandates from: • Wal-Mart • Target • DOD • IT companies also responding to solve RFID related privacy and security issues

  3. ITAA and RFID • RFID Growth • Shipments of RFID technology reached $890 million in value in 2000 (Venture Development Corporation) • Increase to $2.65 billion in 2005

  4. ITAA and RFID • RFID Growth • ½ of the more 350 business and IT executives surveyed by BearingPoint believe RFID is “a revolutionary technology that will have widespread impact.”

  5. ITAA and RFID • Challenges remain: • On-going evolution in standards • Integration of RFID with existing IT infrastructures could be costly 

  6. ITAA and RFID • Helps build the marketplace • Develops events related to specific verticals in the industry • Creates industry best practices

  7. RFID Committee Task Groups • Public Policy • Chairman – John Parkinson, Capgemini • Focuses on policy considerations affecting the RFID space • Standards • Chairman: Nick Evans, BearingPoint • Educates the marketplace on the current state of standards work in the industry • The group does not work to create standards

  8. RFID Committee Task Groups • Federal • Focuses specifically on RFID considerations within the federal government. • Database Management Task Group • Works to determine the best process for RFID technology and services to handle the vast amount of information needed in order to perform flawlessly. 

  9. Business Development • Helps members to: • Drive customers • Build partnerships and business relationships • Address issues that will accelerate adoption Program Leadership:
