World History • Focuses on the way people interact and have interacted with one another and the world around them. • The culture, economics, geography, government, and history of different civilizations provide the foundations of this curriculum. • Opportunities for the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills are basic to the learning process.

  4. Materials! • One composition (or spiral) notebook: may need to get another throughout the year. • One folder – This is where students will keep handouts/homework worksheets. • All work will be returned to Ms. Cumpton to be filed in the student’s portfolio.

Procedures • Absences • “Potty Passes” • Late Work • 1st Nine Weeks: 3 Class Periods • 2nd Nine Weeks: 2 Class Periods • 3rd Nine Weeks: 1 Class Period • 4th Nine Weeks: NO Late Work will be accepted • **Each day an assignment is late will mean one letter grade off • Typical day in the classroom

Grading • The students’ grade will be based on Classwork (20%), Homework (10%), Test/Quizzes (50%), and Projects (20%). • FOCUS • See Grading Rubric (0-3) – Classwork and Homework • 0 = Never received assignment • 1 = Needs Improvement: Incorrect answers, must be re-done for a higher grade • 2 = Satisfactory: correct answers, written in complete sentences • 3 = Outstanding: student has gone above and beyond what was required, correct answers with no spelling/capitalization errors
