  2. PARIS21 Strategic Pillar Knowledge sharing and Innovation Incubator (2016-2020 PARIS21 Strategy) Through its wide partnership, PARIS21 can advise on the suitability and sustainability of innovations, and share other countries’ experience. It also has the flexibility to implement pilot projects for statistical capacity building, and identify specific needs for which innovations would be tested - from improved data collection and use of technology to new methods in analysis, user promotion and data dissemination in a cost-effective manner.

  3. Cascade of innovations New NSDS Guidelines CRESS reporting Data Visualization toolkit Leadership training …Innovation is broad based in PARIS21 and emerges in all aspects and workstreams

  4. Focus on 3 innovations 1. Platform of Innovations in STAtistics (PISTA): share other countries’ experience in innovation 2. Open Assessment Repository (OAR): implement pilot projects for statistical capacity building 3. Advanced DAtaPlanning Tool (ADAPT): identify specific needs for which innovations would be tested

  5. Sharing experiences in innovation • Develop a site for posting the country reports • Continue to collect innovations and seek collaboration with other platforms • Use as an internal tool for deeper dives into country statistical capacity • Browse Innovations • Assess a country • Explore statistical capacities • Used in regional fora: Central Asia SIAP • Piloted in Sudan to promote innovation in NSDS Platform for Innovation in Statistics

  6. Statistical capacity development • Natural and on-going evolution • Presented at UNSC side event • Development of an on-line platform • Browsablecontent of statistical questions and responses • Develop a Metadata model • Use as the basis of harmonising text and responses • Open to all assessments (repository) • Task team to review the process in phased approach Open Assessment Repository (OAR)

  7. Identify specific needs • Specific Need is planning for SDGs • Integrate national planning priorities • Platform for planning and inclusion in the NSDS • Costing sources of data • Monitoring NSDS progress and implementation • Pilot process evaluation end of June • Continue to develop and refine functionality • Finalise the pilots • Develop cost analytics • Scale up with partner organizations • Full gap analysis 9 pilots: Cameroon, Bolivia, Philippines, Cambodia, Equatorial Guinea, Tanzania, Rwanda, Guinea Bissau, Ghana +15 countries in partnership with UNESCAP, UNSD, GPSDD, CAN Advanced Data Planning Tool (ADAPT)
