OBJECTIVES OF ICAO LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS • ENSURE THAT FLIGHT CREW AND ATCOs HAVE SUFFICIENTLANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TO MANAGE ALL THE POTENTIAL COMMUNICATIVE NEEDS RELATED TO PILOTS AND ATCO COMMUNICATIONS, FROM ROUTINE PHRASEOLOGIES • TO ROUTINE COMMUNICATIONS NOT ENCOMPASSED BY PHRASEOLOGIES • TO NON ROUTINE SITUATIONS • TO OUTRIGHT EMERGENCIES TRAINING OBJECTIVES

  4. IMPROVE RADIOTELEPHONY COMMUNICATIONS EFFECTIVE AND SAFE THROUGH GOOD QUALITY AVIATION-SPECIFIC LANGUAGE TRAINING PROGRAMMES LANGUAGE PLAYING A PROBLEM-ALLEVIATING AND PROBLEM-AVOIDING ROLE NOT ONE ATTENTION-DEMANDING OBSTACLE

RADIOTELEPHONY COMMUNICATIONS 3 ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSE: TRAINING FOCUSED ON THOSE FEATURES OF THE LANGUAGE WHICH ARE REQUIRED FOR THE TASK AT HAND AVIATION ENGLISH: COMPREHENSIVE BUT SPECIALIZED SUBSET OF ENGLISH RELATED TO AVIATION INCLUDING PLAIN LANGUAGE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS, DISPATCHERS, RAMP AGENTS, … ICAO PHRASEOLOGY STANDARDIZED AND TECHNICAL WORDS AND PHRASES LEARNED AND ASSESSED WITHIN FLIGHT TRAINING COURSES SUBCATEGORY OF AVIATION ENGLISH. INCLUDES BUT MUST NOT BE LIMITED TO PHRASEOLOGY. ALSO INCLUDES PLAIN LANGUAGE IN AN OPERATIONAL CONTEXT RADIOTELEPHONY ENGLISH

PLACEMENT TEST NON NATIVE SPEAKERS AB INITIO CADETS ATC TRAINEES ACTIVE OPERATIONAL PROFESSIONALS APP. 1 TO JAR FCL 1.160 AND 1.165 ATPL INTEGRATED COURSE – THE FTO SHALL ENSURE THAT BEFORE BEING ADMITTED TO THE COURSE THE APPLICANT HAS SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE OF MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS AND ENGLISH AS BENCHMARKS TO ESTABLISH THE TRAINING PROGRAMME

HOWEVER PROFESSIONALS WITHIN THE AVIATION COMMUNITY AFFECTED BY ICAO LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR CAREERS AND FACE RIGID TIME PRESSURES; THEY NEED TO ATTAIN ICAO OPERATIONAL LEVEL 4 LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. AS SUCH, THE AVIATION INDUSTRY MERITS THE MOST EFFICIENT LANGUAGE TRAINING AVAILABLE!

  14. CRITICALITIES NO NEED TO GET THE APPROVAL FROM THE CAA 18 TRAINING CENTRES SUBMITTED THE TRAINING PROGRAMME (AND TRAINERS QUALIFICATIONS) TO ENAC APPROVAL REQUEST OF INTEGRATIONS, MODIFICATIONS APPROVAL WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO DON’T SUBMIT THE PROGRAMME TO THE AUTHORITY?
