Hunting in the Norhern part of Belgium • Min huntingground = 40ha • wildlife management unit (WMU) = 5 huntinggrounds with a min area of 1000ha • Wildlife management plan = for being certified as WMU. • WMU are hunting on Natura 2000 sites
Hunting season in natura 2000 (Waterfowl) • Mallard = 1/9 until 15/1 • Canadian goose = 15/8 until 15/1 • Grey-lag goose = 15/8 until 30/9 (migratory birds are comming) • Nyle goose (alien species) = whole year
High density bird area’s (HDBA) • Introduced by the local gouvernement in 2003 • Introduced as measurement against disturbance activities • Overlap with bird directives (20% HDBA = BD).
