  1. LUKE 5: 5Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

  2. NagLelevel Up BaAngBuhay Mo? • "Level up" is a phrase often used in video games • most of us have probably experienced “moving to a higher level” • WE want our status to level up

  3. Peter leveled up (from zero to hero) • He was an expert fisherman • But in the spiritual aspects of our service to God, worldly achievements are still considered “nothing” • That’s why the disciples’ leadership roles were not based on their earthly positions -Matthew= accountant -Judas Iscariot= revolutionary leader -Luke= a doctor But Jesus chose Peter, a fisherman, to become the leader..

  4. TRIALS COME • TRUSTING GOD • THANKING GOD • TRUTHFUL SERVICE

  5. TRIALS COME • They toil all day, but they haven’t caught anything • Without God’s blessings our efforts will be useless Leviticus 26:20 “Your strength will be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit.” John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” -God sometimes allows difficulties so that we will realize that without Him… WE ARE NOTHING

  6. TRUSTING GOD • A challenge to obey • Basing on experience it is not conventional to go fishing in a broad daylight • But God is not talking about experience here • God is a miracle worker -He created all things “out of nothing” -He can defy the laws of nature if He needs to -we don’t need scientific evidence/basis to prove that God can do miracle in our lives Isaias 43: 2 “Kapagdumaan ka samalalimnatubig, sasamahankita;tumawid ka man samgailog, hindi ka malulunod;dumaan ka man saapoy, hindi ka masusunog, hindi ka matutupok.” -all we need to do is to believe and trust Him

  7. THANKING GOD • From “master” to “Lord” • He realized the Divine Nature of Christ -within a short period of time when he encountered Christ, Peter was changed • “Lord” -signifies an expression of worship • “gratefulness”“sense of awe” • Psalm 26:7 “That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works.” -the Psalmist consider it a great privilege to give thanks to the Lord -we are commanded to give thanks to the Lord, but when we give thanks to Him we should not feel as if we’re just forced to do it..

  8. TRUTHFUL SERVICE • They left their worldly priorities • it’s a crucial decision -but the decision seems very easy for Peter -when he encountered Christ he realized that his purpose is bigger than getting stuck in catching fish -have we encountered Christ in our lives? • For Peter to LEVEL UP, he needs to let go of his personal agenda • Mark 8:36What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

  9. Reflection: • We really need to Level Up.. • Not for our own sake, but for God’s glory.. Revelation 3:16 “So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” • It displeases God to see His children who are just contented maintaining the “status quo” • God wants to see us growing spiritually
