  2. “SIMPLE LANG” Year-start Devo Lesson MMCC Pasig Region

  3. Mahirap ang buhay na kumplicado!

  4. By the time of the 1st century • Jews – 613 Torah commands • Divided into 248 (positive) + 365 (negative) • Complications: e.g. “no work on the Sabbath”

  5. In contrast, listen to Jesus • Mt 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

  6. Mt 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Mat 11:30 Sapagka't malambot ang aking pamatok, at magaan ang aking pasan.

  7. Simple is awesome! • Jesus kept things simple • Jesus stressed the Great Commandments • Before he ‘left’ he gave the Great Commission • Jesus refused to be burdened by other things • Same heart sought for in the MMCC Mission-Vision statements

  8. MMCC Mission Statement • We are a church of disciples devoted to loving God, loving one another, and making disciples of all nations

  9. MMCC Vision Statement • For all men to be saved and come to a full knowledge of the truth

  10. MMCC Focus Goals • TO LOVE GOD • TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER • TO LOVE THE LOST Kung may mga bagay na nakakahadlang sa ating focus, bakit pa natin gagawin?

  11. Life becomes complicated when we try to do too much, to please too many people, to reach too many peripheral goals. • A Christian is happiest when he/she is fulfilling the few simple things that God desires!

  12. Let’s look at how God wants simple obedience in Malachi.

  13. Mal 1.6-8 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the LORD Almighty. “It is you, O priests, who show contempt for my name. “But you ask, ‘How have we shown contempt for your name?’ “You place defiled food on my altar. “But you ask, ‘How have we defiled you?’ “By saying that the LORD'S table is contemptible. When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the LORD Almighty.

  14. Mal 1.11-14 My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD Almighty. “But you profane it by saying of the Lord’s table, ‘It is defiled,’ and of its food, ‘It is contemptible.’ And you say, ‘What a burden!’ and you sniff at it contemptuously,” says the LORD Almighty.

  15. Mal 1.11-14 “When you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?” says the LORD. “Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,” says the LORD Almighty, “and my name is to be feared among the nations.

  18. Obedience=giving your best • God wants our best • Something is not better than nothing • He deserves the best

  19. Jesus wants to keep things simple • Jesus want us as disciples to have a happy, simple life in 2009

  20. Salamat sa Dios, na sa kabila ng samu’t saring pwedeng maka-abala sa atin, ang Buhay Kristyano ay pwedeng maging… SIMPLE LANG

  21. “SIMPLE LANG” Year-start Devo Lesson MMCC Pasig Region
