  21. SRI International An Independent Non-Profit Research Institute SRI International is conducting a study investigating to what extent, why, when, and how online learning models that target Algebra 1 work or do not work for different student populations, especially those that are historically disadvantaged or underserved. Phase I (complete): Algebra I online provider profiles --features analysis Phase II (in data analysis): Algebra I online feature profiles-- outcomes analysis Phase III (in planning) http://www.sri.com/sites/default/files/publications/supporting-k-12-students-online-learning-2.pdf

  22. The primary goal of the Challenge is to identify and disseminate educational practices that reliably improve learning outcomes in real-world online learning environments. Recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) show that brief, carefully designed interventions can change how students think about school in ways that affect their academic motivation and raise their achievement (1, 2). These mindset interventions help students understand learning in more adaptive and empowering ways that help them stay motivated and resilient. Mindset Challenge Implement Growth Mindset interventions Assess outcomes RFP will close in April http://www.perts.net/home/challenge.php

  23. The research project aims to measure the impact of taking a FLVS course on appropriate state-measured educational outcomes. In data analysis: A study of student outcomes associated with FLVS course completion

  24. The purpose of this study will be to gain additional insight into the nature of the accommodations and strategies that special education personnel provide to students with disabilities and general education teachers in online courses provided by FLVS’ part time program. The purpose of this study will be to compare the achievement of students with disabilities (ESE) and general education students (GenEd) enrolled in four online courses at FLVS’ part time program. Phase I (complete): Initial survey of FLVSFT instructors and staff IEP development and maintenance in online environment Phase II (in approvals): Focus group research with online ESE Specialists/ comparison study student outcomes

  25. Our project will explore how access to the online sector affects students’ academic performance, including test outcomes, course grades, and course progression. In addition, we will examine potential mediating and moderating factors, including (among others) teacher and course characteristics, prior student achievement, and school contextual factors. Finally, using a set of teacher and student surveys, we will collect information on teacher and student experiences in virtual and face-to-face (FtF) classes that will allow us to develop hypotheses about factors affecting student learning and teacher effectiveness in online classes. In data collection: Student outcomes associated with virtual school enrollment vs traditional school enrollment
