  1. Flying Samaritans at UCSD Fall Quarter GBM 1 Care. Service. Passion. Proud to be a Flying Samaritan Wednesday October 15th 2014 @8PM

  2. Part of the Flying Samaritans Palomar Chapter. Flying Samaritans at UCSD is 14 years old

  3. Free Medical and Dental care Undergraduate students of the UCSD Flying Samaritans visit a clinic in Chapultepec, Ensenada on a Saturday day trip every month.

  4. On the Road • Our Day on the trip Begins: • Meet at Stein Clinic 6:30-7am • Drive to clinic and arrive at 10am • Consultations and Procedures begin when we arrive and end around 2-3pm • We get tacos from the taco shack. • Head home around 4pm • Arrive at the border around 8pm or 9pm

On the Drive: • Medical Travel Insurance through University of California: Office of The President (UCOP) • Walkie Talkies and Mexican Phones will be utilized • A Traveller’s Binder that will contain: directions (to and from clinic), emergency contacts (in USA and Mexico), and In Case of Emergency Guides • At the clinic: • Personal Protective Equipment is highly necessary. • Flying Sams Scrubs or Shirt are required. • Hair tied back and comfortable closed toe shoes. • Goggles or glasses and gloves will be provided (as needed per station).   6. Our Clinic Our clinic building is a DIF managed building that is utilized for other community programs when we are not there.

  7. Public Health in the waiting room Monthly Public Health seminars are created and presented by Spanish speaking students in a culturally competent manner. Topics include oral hygiene, diabetes, nutrition, cholesterol, women’s health, flu…and more. Join the public health committee!

  8. Patient History Station

  9. Vitals and Lab Students take vitals: height/weight, blood pressure, temperature, and oxygen saturation. Experience students may take: blood glucose level for diabetic patients. And with doctor’s request, students also run cholesterol, blood levels and other tests.

  10. 1-3 providers volunteers with us. Student volunteers are able to shadow the providers and qualified Spanish speakers may translate for the provider.

  11. Our partnership with Pre Dental Society allows us to offer free Dental Service.

  12. Pharmacy Our pharmacy is run by pre-pharm or pre-health students. It is organized by category; and supplied by Kingsway, Heart to Heart, and other donations. Inventory contains an updated list of all our medicines and our needs. Get involved with our pharmacy!

  13. Clinic trips cost $30- Covers gas, car insurance and toll fees. Drivers don’t pay. How to attend a clinic trip?
