  1. Radiology Packet 18 Spine - Myelogram

  2. 9 yr old male Rottweiler“Kaiser” • HX = presented for evaluation of ataxia, has been occuring for 6 weeks and has ascended from the hind limbs to the forelimbs

  3. 9 yr old male Rottweiler“Kaiser”

  4. 9 yr old male Rottweiler“Kaiser”

  5. 9 yr old male Rottweiler“Kaiser” • RF • Large mineralized disc at C2-3. • Narrowing of the intervertebral disc space is present at C6-7. • There is narrowing of the dorsal and ventral columns at C6-7. • Ventrally the contrast is split over the body of C6 and the caudal body of C7. • RD • Compressive lesion at C6-7 • Most likely extradural disc extrusion • Next • Surgery

  6. 6 yr old FS mix breed dog“Lady” • HX = Presented for an acute rear limb paralysis but has had a long history of some hind end weakness

  7. 6 yr old FS mix breed dog“Lady”

  8. 6 yr old FS mix breed dog“Lady”

  9. 6 yr old FS mix breed dog‘Lady” • RF • Mineralized IV disc material T12-13, T13-L1, L2-3, L3-4, L4-5, L5-6, L6-7 and LS. • There is opacity over the intervertebral foramen at L2-3. • There is mild spondylosis present at T11-12. • There are two sites of dorsal deviation of the central subarachnoid contrast column, T13-L1 and L2-3. • On the lateral views the dorsal contrast column is narrowed beginning at T12 and extending to L1-2. • On the VD views the contrast column noticeably thins beginning at mid T10 and extending to mid L3. • RD • IV disc protrusion with spinal cord edema and swelling centered over T13-L1 disc space • Chronic disc protrusion at L2-3 • Next • Surgery at T13-L1

  10. 7 yr old female Bearded Collie“Sheba” • HX = presented with neck pain and left-sided root signature

  11. 7 yr old female Bearded Collie“Sheba”

  12. 7 yr old female Bearded Collie“Sheba” • RF • Calcified disc at C6-7. • There is thinning of the ventral and dorsal subarachnoid space on the lateral view at C6-7. • On the VD view there is a focal axial deviation of the left subarachnoid space at C6-7. • RD • Left-sided IV disc protrusion at C6-7 • Next • Surgery

  13. 7 yr old MC Doberman • HX = none

  14. 7 yr old MC Doberman

  15. 7 yr old MC Doberman

  16. 7 yr old MC Doberman

  17. 7 yr old MC Doberman • RF • Wedging of the C4-5, C5-6, C6-7, and C7-T1 IV disc spaces. • Mild dorsal tilting of the cranial aspect of C5 and C6. • On the myelogram views there is a focal dorsal elevation of the ventral contrast column at C6-7 with mild thinning of the dorsal contrast column. • The elevation is less severe on flexion of the neck, during traction of the neck the ventral column is still dorsally deviated but the dorsal column is slightly improved. • RD • Hypertrophy of the dorsal longitudinal ligament secondary to cervical instability (Canine Wobbler Syndrome) • Next • Surgery

  18. 6 yr old FS Mix Breed Dog“Maggie” • HX = presented for progressive hind-end ataxia

  19. 6 yr old FS Mix Breed Dog“Maggie”

  20. 6 yr old FS Mix Breed Dog“Maggie”

  21. 6 yr old FS Mix Breed Dog“Maggie”

  22. 6 yr old FS Mix Breed Dog“Maggie” • RF • Incidental finding of a transitional vertebra at the lumbosacral junction on the survey films. • There is a marked dorsal deviation of the dorsal contrast column at the cranial aspect of L2. • Loss of the ventral contrast column is present over the body of L2 and extending caudally over the L2-3 IV disc space. • There is a loss of the right contrast column over the body of L2, the left contrast column is attenuated but still visible at this level. • RD • Extradural compressive lesion at L2 • Most likely cause is a mass lesion in the extradural space, r/o’s include plasma cell myeloma, lympohsarcoma
