  15. Inquiry Model for Learning Science OBSERVE New experience and/or observation What DON’T you know. Deeper understanding should lead toward new questions. QUESTION New experience is explored and questions are raised. INFER/PREDICT Prior knowledge, pre-conceptions, and existing ideas are used to make inferences, provide possible explanations, and to make predictions. TEST An investigation, experiment, or observation is planned and carried out to provide data and evidence. ANALYZE If evidence supports the inference/prediction, your understandings are deepened as a result of close observation and explaining the experience. ANALYZE If evidence DOES NOT support your inference/prediction; make another inference, or try another idea/explanation. INTERPRET Data is interpreted and compared to the original inference, prediction, etc.
