  2. What is a profiler • A profiler is someone who looks at a crime scene and looks for things that can tell them about the killer. • For example they might look and see if the scene clean or messy, and that can tell them if they’re dealing with an organized killer or not.

  3. What is needed to become a profiler • Profilers need some kind of advanced degree in forensic or behavioral science. • They need 3 years of being a special agent under their belt. • And experience in investigating, kidnappings, violent and sexual crimes.

  4. Common misunderstandings • Although TV shows make it look like profilers are cops, they don’t usually step outside their office or solve crimes. • Most of what profilers do is look at crimes made by past offenders and educate police and others in crime solving on what profiling is and how it’s important.

  5. Profiler TV shows • There are some shows about profiling. • Profiler is one of them. It’s about a woman named Sam Waters who is after a serial killer called the “jack of all trades”.

  6. Profiler TV shows cont… • Probably the most known television show about profiling is criminal minds. It’s made up of a team of 7 people, unit chief Aaron Hotchner(Thomas Gibson), tech analysist Penelope Garcia(Kristen Vangsness), Supervisory special agents, Derek Morgan(Shemar Moore), Dr. Spencer Reid(Matthew Gray Gubler), Jennifer “JJ” Jareau(A.J. Cook), David Rossi(Joe Mantegna) and Dr. Alex Blake(Jeanne Tripplehorn).
