Narratology Structuring your narrative Narratology- Todorov >Is the study of narrative and its structures, to understand how they affect our perception of story Todorov Theory 1.Equilibrium- main characters life is normal and balanced, no disruptions yet 2.Disruption- Main characters life has been disrupted shattering their previous equilibrium 3.Recognition- the main character begins to realise that their situation has changed and not for the better 4.Repair- Main character now sets out to ‘right the wrongs’ and repair their situation, so that life can be as good as it was originally (equilibrium) 5.New Equilibrium- the main character has worked through the problems and as a result have gained back their equilibrium. However they have grown from their experiences. Life is now BETTER than it was at the beginning of the narrative Aristotle >Act1- ➔Introduce (Character/ Equilibrium) >Acts 2- ➔Stuff happens >Act 3- ➔Resolution

Everyone wants to be found 1.Happy family with a 3 year old child 2.Child goes missing 3.Parents panic they is a big national search 4.Find child has been taken by sister who was jealous of the family and almost killed children 5.Move to a new city an start new life and sister is arrested Synopsis The film starts at Susan and Joes daughter Molly 3rd birthday and they go out for dinner at a nice restraint as they had finished paying they waked to their car as they were walking they realised Molly was no longer beside them. The parent frantically are searching around shouting her name but she was nowhere in sight. They call the police and tell them how their daughter is missing. The police rush to the scene and tap the area where the child was taken they look through security footage and see the child go willingly with mysterious figure and get into the car. They manage to see the car and show the parent to see if it is anyone they know as it looked like the child know the kidnapper and they parent looked distraught as they realise the car belonged to Susan sister. They immediately call the sister and she stats staying how she was jealous of their perfect life and how she could never have that so she took Molly to destroy their happiness. The police track the phone call and find her location and they storm into the sisters house just in time as she was about to kill Molly. They arrest the sister and they find out she has been struggling with a mental disorder and she gets shunned by here family. Susan, Joe and Molly move to a new city to get rid move on from what had happened.
