  1. ICP Modelling and Mapping activities in 2011

  2. Results from ICP MM – CCE WS • Method • One meeting, 2 functions (Workshop + Task Force) • Results • Development of models describing vegetation response to N deposition and successful call for data. Belyazid, S., Sweden.

  3. CCE Call for data 2010 / 2011 • Future CCE databases to be consistent with EMEP developments • increase the resolution of data and modelling (down to 5 x 5 km²) • test the use of vegetation response – dynamic soil chemistry models • advances in modelling biodiversity • assess impacts on protected areas (incl. Natura 2000). • Improve policy relevant indicators • relate to biodiversity (SEBI2010) • include climate change (ECLAIRE FP7) • useful for various legislations (UE TSAP, Habitat Directive)

  4. ICP M&M / CCE 2012 tasks (EB.AIR/WG.1/2011/10) • Call for contribution • Overview of endpoints • Application of biodiversity indices • Comparisons of models and results (sites) • Application to protected areas (Natura 2000) and regionalisation Request for WGE approval!!!

  5. Common tasks according to the workplan (1/2) • Contribution to the Gothenburg protocol revision • ICP M&M has contributed to the « analysis of Gothenburg scenarios with WGE indicators » (« expost  ») • Data distribution • Writing up • Editing the report (EB.AIR/WG.1/2011/3) and technical background document. • Contribution to the Long Term Strategy • Collaboration with Natura 2000 community for the reporting of Habitat Directive. • SEBI 2010 indicator 009 (exceedance of CLd N) contribution to EEA State of environment report 2010.

  6. Common tasks according to the workplan (2/2) • Implementation of the Guidance document • Tables in 2011 CCE report • changes in eutrophication, acidification impacts according to scenarios • Heavy metal baseline • 2010 CCE report (in collaboration with EMEP/MSC-E) • Comparison with other parts of the world • Database in US has been submitted (CCE call for data 2010/2011)

  7. Future work • Support of the Gothenburg protocol and the Thematic strategy on air pollution • Call for contribution • Biodiversity, climate change, modelling • Developments on the dynamic modelling of carbon sequestration in forests • Indicators and endpoints for modelling • Collaboration with European Topic Centre for Biodiversity • Contribution to the assessment on the Gothenburg Protocol (with EMEP)

  8. CCE 22nd Workshop + ICP M&M 28th Task Force= one meeting in… WARSAW, POLAND 16 – 19 April 2012
