    1. 2010 Type 4 Conversion 2056cc Engine kit offering Reliable Horsepower created in your Garage

    2. Specific Engine Kit details In this second part of our 2010 engine kit presentation we will go over the details of the 2056cc engine kit offering used for Type 4 Engine conversions. This will include performance ratings, longevity, reliability core charges and recommended sub system components to outfit the engine “our way” for the best over all package.

    3. About this Presentation Due to the close relationships that all Type 4 conversions share we have compounded applications when creating our engine kit offerings for 2010-2011. Each kit presented here is equally at home in any VW Type I, Early (to 1967) Type II, Porsche 356 or Porsche 912 (excluding the 912E) The kits presented are also effective in all VW based “replicars” and “kit cars” including the 356 Speedster and 550 Spyder. This presentation will not support the VW Type III conversion.

    4. MassIVe 2056cc In the charts following take note of the HP variances between the stock 2.0/ 914 engine and the MassIVe series of offerings available as engine kits. Compared to the stock 1600cc Type 1 engine the 2056cc Type 4 offers an entirely different vehicle to be created and the same goes for the Porsche 356 and 912 with their minimal “Beetle like” stock performance Keep in mind that ANY 1.7, 1.8 or 2.0 stock Type 4 engine can be used to create these results with our kit offerings.

    5. Broad power One of our biggest concerns when creating anew combination is broad, usable power. Due to this you’ll see that our 2056cc offering is a big power maker in the midrange where the driver sees the most driving time. This makes for fun power that is easy to drive and a car that is operating at it’s peak efficiency, especially when the gearing is optimized. All engines in the 2056 series are compared based on their performance in our lab from 2000- 6000 RPM

    6. 2056cc Performance comparisons 2,500- 6,000 RPM

    7. 2056-135 The 2056-135 is a well rounded engine designed for the budget minded enthusiast that desires to equip their vehicle with MassIVe power. This combination is our most cost effective engine kit for the Type 4 Conversion because it uses our less expensive RAT 7424 heads to make it’s power.

    8. The 2056-135 is an excellent daily driver engine, this engine kit was derived from my personal 160,000 mile Porsche 912E engine built in 2002, that has performed flawlessly.

    9. 2056-135 These are the most notable characteristics of the 2056-135: *Enhanced RPM capability *Simplicity of carburetors *Ease of tuning due to increased efficiency *Cooler running temperatures *Moderate fuel economy *No loss of reliability *No loss of longevity *Only added typical dual carburetor maintenance needed Results may vary**

    10. FYI This engine can be built from any 914/4 core long block from 1.7-2.0 liters This kit features our RAT RS heads with 42X36mm valves and conservatively prepared ports. These DO NOT feature 3 stud intake modifications or relocated plugs like the LE series heads but are based on new head castings. This keeps performance exceptional for the expenditure. The heads are compatible with all dual carburetor intake manifolds used with Weber and Dellorto IDF and DRLA series carbs. Those using 1.7/1.8 core engines will not encounter added difficulty assembling this engine, despite it’s use of standard 2.0 internals.

    11. 2056-135 Core Details The core components that are needed at the time of the order from the customers long block are listed below: Any year or type of VW/ Porsche Type 4 engine case 2.0 liter crankshaft Any VW Bus/Porsche 914 flywheel Unserviceable items will be prorated as necessary upon receipt and inspection by our team. ALL Customers should source a complete core longblock to ensure all items needed for the MassIVe overhaul are included.

    12. The 2056-135 Induction Requirements The stock D or L jet EFI system is NOT COMPATIBLE with this engine. This engine is effective with dual carburetors, 40-44mm Weber or 40mm Dellorto. Single, center mounted carburetors are not compatible!! Aftermarket EFI systems like our RAT/SDS EFI kit is compatible with this engine combination. This engine kit is not designed for forced induction or Nitrous!

    13. The 2056-135 Ignition Requirements The Bosch 009, 050 and other VW distributors are effective for use with this kit due to their ignition advance curve and overall lack of quality. Pertronix, MSD, Jacobs, Compufire and other ignition coils and distributors are not authorized as we lack the ability to provide settings for these.

    14. The 2056-135 Exhaust Requirements The Aircooled Technology Conversion muffler is effective with this engine kit for all VW applications . The Aircooled Technology 1-5/8” header is compatible with this engine for VW applications as well. Porsche 356 Speedster replicars can use the above headers as well. Genuine Porsche 356 and 912 applications require a custom Aircooled Technology system for effectiveness. Heaterbox arrangements are currently not available. Avoid home built, or “custom” systems created by non Type 4 exhaust system specialists at all costs! Performance ratings for the 2056-135 were attained using the Aircooled Technology Conversion Header.

    15. The 2056-135 Cooling System Requirements This and all Type 4 Store Type 4 Conversion engine kits are designed to function with the Aircooled Technology DTM cooling system exclusively. The DTM is the most effective, easiest to install and most developed Type 4 conversion cooling system available! Read about the Aircooled Technology DTM cooling system here. Anyone contemplating the use of an alternative system, such as the “Cali Conversion” should consult with our specialists via the forums. External oil cooling will not be needed if the engine is outfitted with the V1 DTM. Most applications of this engine do not require external oil cooling even in extreme climates when the DTM is utilized.. We do MANDATE that all vehicles being outfitted with Type 4 Store engine kits be upgraded to Cylinder head temperature and oil temperature instrumentation to aid in tuning as well as reduce the chance of freak accidents leading to a compromised engine.

    16. Transaxle The 2056-135 is compatible with any VW Type 1 transaxle, however the stock gear ratios are not optimum. This engine is best optimized by our Aircooled Technology “A” spec conversion transaxle. VW Based Replicars should also follow the “VW” recommendations above. The Porsche 356 and 912 can use their stock 741 or 901 gearboxes, but top gear should be increased for a better final drive.

    17. Specifications This engine uses a compression ratio from 8-9.5:1 dependant upon the customer’s operating elevation. This kit is designed for use with 91 octane fuel, but 89 can be used at elevation. 10/30 oil used in winter and 20/50 used in summer. WE MANDATE BRAD PENN LUBRICANTS FOR ALL OUR ENGINES

    20. 2056-135 Summary This concludes the 2056-135 review. This is a very effective and popular engine kit for the Type 4 Conversion Enthusiast due to it’s lower cost and ease of assembly. This combination makes 25% more TQ and HP than the stock 2.0/914 engine. When compared to the stock 1600cc TI engine the power output is more than double. These are real results that are very notable in the driver’s seat! This kit is simple and can be built easily by the most inexperienced novice that has mechanical aptitude and can follow directions. It’s basically a stock engine that uses Carburetors effectively for a simpler engine bay.

    21. Closing We hope this presentation has helped to explain the 2056cc engine kit offerings for 2010-2011. Remember that all kits are based on pedigreed combinations developed in our engine division and proven in our lab and field testing. Keep in mind that our kit program gives the novice the power of professional assistance and support in an affordable package with results that cannot be attained without our “Combo”. With our “Extensive Prep Service” option our team will handle all the critical set up for you, including compression ratio, valve train geometry, end play and related complexity allowing for a true “Bolt together” assembly with only the typical “engine builder challenges”…
