  1. Types Of Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Maintenance, in general, can be classified as endeavors taken to keep the condition and performance of equipment always like the condition and performance of equipment when it is still new. Activities for biomedical equipment maintenance can essentially be categorized into two parts: ✓Planned maintenance activities ✓Unplanned maintenance activities The kind of maintenance can’t be equated for all equipment, which depends on the method, cost, and critical level. The following kinds of maintenance techniques are commonly used in medical industries: Preventative Maintenance It is a technique for averting damage to equipment by periodically replacing components depending on time of use and performing minor maintenance and checks to find out the existing state of the equipment. Predictive Maintenance It is a technique for carrying out maintenance by replacing components depending on calculations using a tool. The point is if the preventive technique is only based on the schedule, then the predictive technique is derived from the results of the measurement. This technique can even make use of the five senses, for instance, in bearing scrutiny can be distinguished from the sound produced, or verifying temperature, or by touching the defect or variation in the equipment can be felt easily. Corrective Maintenance It is a technique that is commonly used for medical laser maintenance. It is intended to perk up the reliability of equipment by improvising. In addition to equipment, it is even intended for components that have a short life cycle - lessen the frequency of damage - and speed up repair time. In other words, this technique is to extend MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and accelerate MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) as a result of its reliability - activity to prevent recurrence of damage - and maintainability - activity to speed up repair time. Breakdown Maintenance It is a technique where check up and replacement of components are not carried out, so with this technique we leave the equipment damaged and then we get it fixed or replaced. Total Productive Maintenance

  2. It is a maintenance activity that entails production operators in maintaining equipment in addition to activities carried out by maintenance operators. Its objective is to develop operators that are capable of becoming aware of damage signals as early as possible and create a neat, clean workplace so that any irregularities can be noticed as early as possible.
