LIFESTYLE
  • Lifestyle (Family, School, Clothing, and Food): They had to build houses, schools, and churches, the settlers had learned how to grow new crops. They cleared land forests to plant small fields of corn and tobacco. Everyone in the colonial family had to help with daily chores. Maryland settlers were not peppered for life in North America; the settlers discovered that they could not plant the same grains and crops they grew in England. Settlers also had to face new diseases, such as yellow fever. The settlers didn’t have good medicines to these illnesses. (Many people died).

Girls helped their mothers pick vegetables, cook, and clean. Boys helped their fathers care for animals and crops.
