2. Summary Dido asks Aeneas to tell his story of his experiences during the war and the seven years since he left Troy. He begins his story by describing the horse the Greeks made. It was wooden and had a hollow belly. As the Trojans approach the wooden horse they question weather it is an offering or a trick. Thymoetes believes it is an offering and says it should be moved into the cities walls. But Capys and Laocoon believe it is a trick from the Greeks. Capys thinks they should burn it or put it in the sea. He even mentions opening the hollow belly and searching it. Laocoon believes his people have gone made for actually believing the Greeks could be gone. He thinks the Greeks are hiding inside as well so he stabs the curve of the horses belly. Out of nowhere Sinon, an Achaean, appears in chains. The Trojans question who he is, so Sinon begins to tell them what has happened. Sinon tells them that the Greeks were to sacrifice one man for a safe return. All the men got nervous until Ulysses designated Sinon to be the sacrifice. He ended up running away to save his life but now he will never get to see his family again. The Trojans end up feeling bad for Sinon and pity him. As they release him from the chains that the Greeks placed on him, the Trojans ask him if he knows what the horses nature is. Sinon claims it to be an offering to Minerva. If they harm the wooden horse then they will be killed by Minerva's snakes. While Laocoon was sacrificing a bull him and his sons were eaten by Minerva's snakes because of earlier stabbing the wooden horse. The Trojans then realize that they must take the horse into Troy and they do so. It became night and the Trojans went to sleep. In the middle of the night Sinon sets the Greeks free from the horses belly. As the Greeks are destroying the city Hector tells Aeneas to wake up and leave Troy. Aeneas awakes and instead of fleeing he tells the other soldiers to wake up and defend their city. The war continues and the Trojans do end up killing many Greeks but they are too outnumbered. Pyrrhus, a leader of the Greeks, and his men break into the palace of Priam. Pyrrhus ends up killing Polites as he is trying to run away. He then also kills Priam over his own alter. Aeneas sees this and becomes angry. He realizes how alone he is and sees Helen hiding. He has much hatred for her because she is the reason the war is happening. He wants to kill but Venus tells Aeneas to stop and flee Troy with remaining men. Aeneas does as his mother says and warns other men. As he leaves Troy he is nervous for his son and fathers safety. Therefore he goes to get his son, Ascanius, wife, Creusa, and father, Anchises. Anchises doesn�t want to flee though. But when he sees a star in the sky and a flame on Ascanius�s head he changes his mind. They flee from Troy as Aeneas carries his dad on his shoulders and holds his sons hand. As they are fleeing Creusa fell behind and gets lost. Aeneas later returns to look for Creusa, but she has already died. Creusa�s ghost then come to Aeneas and tell him that he will find land a new wife in Hesperia.

4. Aeneas Aeneas is the main character who is telling the story to Dido. In the story Aeneas is awakened by Hector in a dream and is told that Troy is in ruin. Aeneas awakes and tells his men but they are outnumbered. Aeneas is told by his mother to flee from Troy with the remaining men and take his family as well. As Aeneas is fleeing his wife Creusa is left behind and dies.

5. Laocoon Lacoon is one of the men who believe the horse is a trick. He ends up stabbing the horse in the curve of its belly. He thinks the Trojans are going mad if they believed the enemy were gone. He later is eaten by Minerva's snakes.

6. Sinon Sinon is a young Greek who tricked the Trojans into believing he was left behind after the Trojan War. He also tricks them into believing the horse was an offering to Minerva. He later lets out Greek warriors from the horses belly.

7. Hector Hector was a great Trojan warrior but died at Troy. He comes to Aeneas in a dream and tells him to wake up and to flee.

8. Creusa Creusa is the wife of Aeneas. As she is fleeing the city with Aeneas she is left behind. She dies and returns to Aeneas as a ghost. She tells him he will find land in Hesperia and will also find a queen for his wife.

9. 1. What are the two sides debating on what the horse�s nature is? What do the two sides want to do with the horse? The two sides are weather the horse is an offering or a trick. The side that believe it is an offering want to take it into the city of Troy. The side that believes it is a trick wants to burn it.

10. 2. What happens to Laocoon? What is the result of his death? Laocoon and his two sons are eaten by Minerva's snakes. The Trojans, in result, take the wooden horse into the city.

11. 3. How did Sinon trick the Trojans? Sinon tricked the Trojans into believing the wooden horse was an offering to Minerva. He opened the horses hollow belly so that the Greeks could destroy Troy.

12. 4. What does Hector tell Aeneas? Hector tells Aeneas in a dream to wake up and leave Troy.

13. 5. Who kills Priam? How? Pyrrhus kills Priam. Pyrrhus kills Priam over his own alter.

14. 6. When Aeneas sees Helen, why does it anger him? When Aeneas sees Helen it angers him because she was hiding when she was the cause of the war and the reason Troy was getting destroyed.

15. 7. What does Venus tell Aeneas to do when he wants to kill Helen? When Aeneas is wanting to kill Helen, Venus tells Aeneas to stop and flee with the remaining men to safety.

16. 8. What persuades Anchises into leaving Troy? There are two omens. The first omen was what appeared to be a flame on Ascanius�s head. The second omen was a falling star.

17. 9. Why did the Trojans have to leave Troy? They had no chance in winning the war because they were so outnumbered. They needed to leave for their own safety.

18. 10. What does Creusa�s ghost tell Aeneas? Creusa�s ghost tells Aeneas that he will find land and a queen who will be his wife in Hesperia.
