The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) evaluates K-12 English Language Learners (ELLs) in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. TELPAS measures how effectively ELLs understand and use English for daily interactions and academic tasks. It categorizes proficiency into four levels: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced High. The assessment tracks progress through two Annual Measurable Objective (AMAO) indicators: AMAO 1 (progress in proficiency) and AMAO 2 (attainment of Advanced High), providing insights into student growth and proficiency attainment.
