Key Messages • Learn words first, use whatever works; • listening, writing, speaking – ideally combination • Learn music next, use whatever works; • Teach tracks, piano, sight reading – singing in small groups • Teach tracks are for words and notes only – don’t worry about interpand timing at that stage. • Put dots down before you feel ready – to test yourself. Pick them up only for the bits you get wrong, then put them down again • Use section practices to cement words/notes, check each other if possible • Submit audition tracks as soon as possible – remember, there may be a need to refine so leave plenty of time before deadline • After your audition track pass, DO NOT USE teach tracks again • Interpretation will be finalised after audition passes • All remaining learning is on the risers, with re-enforcement using live recordings and specific items of practice for offline
