  3. IN THE BEGINNING • IT BEGINS WITH THE CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE. • IT ENDS WITH A GLIMPSE INTO HEAVEN AND ETERNITY.

  4. THE STORY OF JESUS • “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Rev. 19:10 • We all know 100’s of Bible stories but how does it all fit together? • Ask your Mother. • We’ve been studying the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

  7. Let’s start at the beginning… • “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Gen. 1:1 • Col. 1:16-- “For by him (Jesus) all things were created.” • Rev. 21:1– “I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.”

  8. Day One • Gen. 1:5– “And God said, “Let there be light”…and God called the light “day” and the darkness he called “night.” • John 8:21– “I am the Light of the world.” • Rev. 21:22– “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.”

  9. Gen. 1:5– “The darkness he called “Night”.” • John 12:35-36– “The man who walks is the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light…so that you may become sons of light.” • Rev. 21:25– “There will be no night there.”

  10. Day Four • Gen. 1:16– “God made two great lights– the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.” • Matt. 27:45—”From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.” • Rev. 21:23– “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it…”

  11. Gen. 2:17– “You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” • John 12:24 &27– “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies…but if it dies, it produces many seeds.... It was for this very reason I came to this hour.” • John 10:15– “I lay down my life for the sheep.” • Rev. 21:4– “There will be no more death…”

The Fall of Man • Gen. 3:1ff– Satan appears as the great deceiver. “Did God really say…” • John 13:26ff-- Jesus told Judas, “What you are about to do , do quickly,” “Satan entered into him…” • Rev. 20:10– “The devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur…and… will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Sin • Gen. 3:23-– Adam and Eve sinned and defiled the Garden of Eden. “So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden.” • Matt. 4:1-11– Jesus resisted all the temptations that the devil threw at him. • Rev. 21:27– “Nothing impure will ever enter it…but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

  14. Walk with God • Gen. 3:8ff– “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid…” • John 15:9-10– “Remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love.” • Rev. 21:3– “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”

  15. The Curse • Gen. 3:16– “I will greatly increase your pains…” • Is. 53:3– “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.” • Rev. 21:4– “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

  16. The Curse • Gen. 3:17– “Cursed is the ground because of you…” • Matt. 21:19– “Seeing a fig tree by to road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.” • Rev. 22:3– “No longer will there be any curse.”

  17. The Curse • Gen. 3:19– “By the sweat of your brow…dust you are and to dust you will return.” Man’s dominion broken. • 1 Cor. 15:45ff– “The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven.” • Rev. 22:5– “And they will reign for ever and ever.”

The Tree of Life • Gen. 3:24– “He drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.” • John 6:35– “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry.” • Rev. 22:14– “Blessed are those who… have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.”

  20. Matthew 24:37 • “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”

  21. Isaiah 5:20 • “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.”

  22. 1 Thess. 5:2-3 • “The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”

  23. Rev. 22:7 & 17 • “Behold, I am coming soon!” • “Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
