  6. Audience Needs • Kathmandu Valley Earthquake Risk Perception Study (Carried out under KVERMP) • Social awareness in the communities near by the schools intervened under SESP • Before intervention • After intervention • Social structure survey, JICA • Sagarmatha radio feed back

  7. Characteristics • Covers all target groups government, NGOs, donors etc. • Covers all levels: Individual, Neighborhood, local community, to Central government • Awareness raising components in all activities of NSET-Nepal including KVERMP

  8. Effectiveness • No specific impact assessment survey carried out • However, responses from different sectors certainly indicate effectiveness • Lecture programs conducted at the request of organizations • Demands/request for SESP • Institutionalization of ESD • Participation of government agencies and others in NSET-initiated activities • Request from SCAEF • Creation of Earthquake Safety Forum • Marked increase in media coverage • Interviews • Program coverage • Articles • Nationwide entry in essay and poetry competition

  9. Difficulties • Planning difficult • Roadmap for awareness raising materials not created • Trying to do too much in one go • Posters • Nepalization of international products is not so easy
