EuroAccessibility Signature Ceremony - Paris, 28 April 2003 The Parties observe that “ WAI guidelines may be applied differently in different countries” “ no harmonised methodology for their application and for assessing the quality of Web sites” “ several “labels” are emerging over Europe” “ governmental organisations express the need of a guarantee of quality”

EuroAccessibility Signature Ceremony - Paris, 28 April 2003 The Parties join their efforts to “ set up a common evaluation methodology ” “ create an Accessibility Quality Mark ” “ develop supporting services over Europe” “ set up regional consulting desks” “ establish a European certification authority”

EuroAccessibility Signature Ceremony - Paris, 28 April 2003 In doing so, the Parties want “ to reinforce the European co-operation toward the full accessibility of e-services” “ to avoid the risks of fragmentation of the WAI outcomes” “ to significantly increase the number of accessible Web sites”

EuroAccessibility Signature Ceremony - Paris, 28 April 2003 Actions 29th April Meeting A steering committee will be set up In the next coming months A project Work Plan will be prepared and proposed to the European Commission A legal non profit entity will be created such as an International Non Profit Association
