Runes/Religion • Runes were kind of like the Vikings alphabet • Runes were said to be created by the chief of Norse Gods, Odin, when he tried to get wisdom by spearing himself to a tree. • He got the wisdom and spread it to his people. • After that the Vikings believed that runes were gifts for Odin and treated them with great respect.

  6. Helmets • Vikingsdidn’t wear horns on their helmet. • Vikings had different types of helmets depending on the type of Viking. • Norsemen had a a long metal attachment that went down over their nose called a nose-guard. • Vikings didn’t bury their helmet they passed it down for the generations to come.

  7. Viking Ships • The longship was very long. It was also the first ship made by the Vikings that was found by scientists. • There was another style ship called the knorr, and it was a more rounded-style ship. • The knorr was related to the wreck. • The knorr and the wreck had very few oar- holes and were used for traveling close to home.
