  2. So…What is Blended Instruction? Just good TEACHING... …utilizing the most current tools of our techno-info-socio world. (and embracing what these new capacities enable us to do)

Challenges for the Teacher… • Techno-comfort; • Local infrastructure and policies; • More upfront organization; • Front-loaded with work; • Increased monitoring/feedback; • Less “sage on stage”; • Diligence in communication; • Workload is a trade-off; • Information “brokering”; • Save, re-use, share, exchange; • Are we ready for white water rafting?

Student Skills… • Access • What can we assume about our students? • How can we manage and improve access? • Self-discipline and direction • Are they ready? • Can we “teach” these skills? • Are we currently “teaching” these skills? • Good reading and writing skills • …and perhaps different • Communication skills • Netiquette • Teacher oversight/intervention • More communication…more personality…more realism. • Problem solving abilities • Are students ready to create and contribute, instead of “following instructions”? www.netc.org/digitalbridges/online/resources/bib-learn.php
