  1. UNDP Projects • ICT for Development (ICTD) is one of 6 major areas of UNDP activity • Types of initiatives: regional, sub-regional, inter-country and country level • Focus areas: access, content, capacity, policy.

  2. ACCESS UNDP Projects • Establishing partnerships with ISPs/Telecoms to expand ICT networks beyond urban areas; cooperation with Cisco Academy pgm.; starting fall 2002 • Establishing Public Access Points in CA and Chernobyl-affected areas; Q1 of 2003

  3. CONTENT UNDP Projects Anonymous local language web-based counselling concerning HIV/AIDS epidemics in RO, LT, RU, UA; Q1 2003. In cooperation with UNAIDS; partnership with USAID and OSI currently discussed

  4. CAPACITY UNDP Projects • E-governance learning centre in Tallinn, in cooperation with EE-gov and OSI; Feb 2003 • ICTD Expert Mobile Team (EE followed by SI, CR, CZ, HU, SK, PL)

  5. POLICY UNDP Projects • Sub-regional preparations for WSIS in Geneva 2003. • Supporting transfer of knowledge in ICT policy development – to transfer Kyrgyz know-how in formulation of National Strategy to TJ, RU, BY, SI; fall 2002.

  6. NREN Support Projects „Creating virtual networks of research, policy and training institutions as well as professional associations to promote and advance ICTD agendas. The assistance will include capacity building to the NRENs in CA/Cau. OSI, NATO and CEENet are planned to be among main partners. Start Q1 of 2003.”
