  5. Why Tripler? 2. Medical Center-Based Training - Tripler is the only Military Medical Center in the entire Pacific Basin - Exposure to diseases and illnesses endemic to the tropics (leptospirosis) - Access to prestigious Tertiary Care subspecialists

  6. Why Tripler? 3. Unique Humanitarian and Military opportunities - Most Tripler FM Residents have the unique opportunity to go on humanitarian missions (2-3 weeks in duration) - Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia (a sampling of 2010-2013 missions by FM residents!)

  10. Why Tripler? 5. Outstanding Faculty • 2 Primary care sports medicine physicians on full time faculty • 1 Colonoscopy certified adjunct faculty (does full day of colonoscopies every week)

  13. Why Tripler? 7. Outstanding patient mix • At least 12% of your panel will be kids • Approximately 12% of your panel will be geriatric • 20% of your panel will be Active Duty Soldiers • The rest will be young or middle aged adults (male and female)

Curriculum Overview • Internship • Clinic rotations-3, ER-1, Ward-9 • Electives-0 • 1/2 day Family Medicine clinic/wk • Lectures-3-5 per week • Simulation Training 3-4 hours per quarter • 2nd Year • Clinics-6, Ward-6, Elective 1 • 2-3 half days Family Medicine clinic/wk • Lectures-3-4 per week • Simulation Training 3-4 hours per quarter

Curriculum Overview • 3rd Year • Clinics-5, Ward-4, ER-1, Electives-2 (one of which is typically a humanitarian mission), 1 military rotation (experience military medicine at Schofield) • 3-4 half days Family Medicine clinic/wk • Lectures-3-4 per week • Simulation Training 3-4 hours per quarter
