  1. Sweet Home Alabama By: Rebecca Kollar, Jordan Clark, and Caleb Brinker

  2. Figurative Language Song includes • Anaphora • Alliteration • Apostrophe????

  3. Confusing words in the song • Confusing words or phrases, One verse of the song includes the line "Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers/And they've been known to pick a song or two." This refers to the town of muscle shoals, Alabama, a popular location for recording popular music due to the "sound" crafted by local recording studios and back-up musicians. "The Swampers" referred to in the lyrics are the muscle shoals rhythm section. These musicians, who crafted the "Muscle Shoals Sound", were inducted into the Alabama music hall of fame in 1995

  4. Background of the song • Without Young's songs that were so critical of the South's segregationist and racist attitudes for inspiration, it is doubtful that the band would have produced a song with such a long lasting duration that continues to sell well 30 years after its release.

  5. Song lyrics • Big wheels keep on turning Carry me home to see my kin Singing songs about the Southland I miss Alabamy once again And I think its a sin, yes Well I heard mister Young sing about her Well, I heard ole Neil put her down Well, I hope Neil Young will remember A Southern man don't need him around anyhow Sweet home Alabama Where the skies are so blue Sweet Home Alabama Lord, I'm coming home to you In Birmingham they love the governor Now we all did what we could do Now Watergate does not bother me Does your conscience bother you? Tell the truth Sweet home Alabama Where the skies are so blue Sweet Home Alabama Lord, I'm coming home to you Here I come Alabama

  6. Sweet home Alabama Where the skies are so blue Sweet Home Alabama Lord, I'm coming home to you Here I come Alabama Now Muscle Shoals has got the SwampersAnd they've been known to pick a song or two Lord they get me off so much They pick me up when I'm feeling blue Now how about you? Sweet home Alabama Where the skies are so blue Sweet Home Alabama Lord, I'm coming home to you

  7. Criticism of the song summary Sweet home alabama was in response to neilyoungs song southern man in alabamaneilyoungs songs were about segregation was the way to go and it was saying that all southerners were racist We like this song because of the beat and the way this song to say racism is not the way all southerners are
