Tips for Kerckhoffs Students • Mail info@kerckhoffs-institute.org to register • otherwise lecturers at the other universities may not know you • Register officially with TU/e, RUN & UT • otherwise your marks cannot be transferred • Regularly check www.kerckhoffs-institute.org/ • otherwise you may not be up to date on the schedules • Consider Algebra as homologation • otherwise you may not be able to pass Cryptography I • Join the Kerckhoffs student association Auguste • otherwise you will not be able to make friends with all your peers • Join the mailing list https://listserv.surfnet.nl/archives/kerckhoff.html • otherwise we will not be able to reach you.

  3. Objectives IST seminar 1. Deepen knowledge of information security 2. Develop research skills • Independently explore new security topics • read scientific papers • Report on these topics orally and in writing • no original research required • Critically review reports by fellow students • peer review

  4. Teachers: • Dr. Boris Škorić (b.skoric@tue.nl, 4870) • Dr. Nicola Zannone (n.zannone@tue.nl, 2646) • Assignments: • 2 written essays • 1 oral presentation • peer review of essays and presentations • participation • Meetings • Mondays, 7th+8th hour (15:45 – 17:30) • Attending is mandatory • Tele-lectures

  5. Lecture format N.Z. • Two rounds. In each round: • presentations • essays • review two other presentations • review one other essay B.S.

  6. House rules • Send emails to both Boris Škorić and Nicola Zannone • Always attend the classes • Speakers come to Eindhoven! • if you cannot attend, tell us in advance • repeated absence may affect your grade • Submit presentations in time • Submit the essays in time • failure to meet deadline may affect your grade

  7. Grade: 1st essay 40% 2nd essay 40% talk 20%
